Merry Christmas and a Happy 2011 from the Wilkeys
Blain
Blain (32) is still serving as the 2nd counselor in the bishopric of our ward, which keeps him out of trouble. This year he was promoted to the Director of Sales at Sundance Resort which keeps him very busy, but he loves working up in the mountains, the people he works with (mostly), traveling back East (sometimes), and the new pay raise of course (always). He loves playing with the kids and going on dates with Heidi. He loves to eat Thai food all over the country and is a great dad and husband and always puts his family first. His great love for the outdoors and camping keeps us going from April to Oct with a monthly camping trip and we wouldn't change it for the world.
Heidi
Heidi (21) was release from 2 of her 3 callings, Relief Society secretary and from being the Preparedness Group organizer and is now back to just being the Cub Scout Committee Chairman for 3 wards in our area. This must have meant that she was not busy enough because she is a constant substitute in Primary, but she enjoys it. She was able to take a trip with Blain in September to visit his parents who are mission presidents back in Manchester, NH. Then off to visit some good friends the Pages who live in Vermont and then down to Boston for work and some play. We even got to go see Wicked on broadway, which has been a dream of Heidi’s for some time.
Christian
This is how he balanced football and piano. |
Addy
Addy (7) is now in 2nd grade and she loves her teacher. She is also doing well in school and loves to play school at home with friends. She decided to take a year off from dance, which made mom really sad, but she has enjoyed the extra free time. She did say that she would like to do dance again next year. Addy is all girl and loves clothes, dress up makeup, dancing, singing, Barbie’s, and putting on fashion shows for her family. She is one of Christian’s piano students and usually likes piano practice. She would prefer though to sit at the piano and play songs by ear or make up her own, which she is very good at. This year she took swimming lessons, ice skating lessons, and played soccer, which kept her plenty busy.
Jack
Jack on his 5th b-day coming in to save the day |
Jack (5) started Kindergarten this year, which was hard for mom, but he is doing really good at learning to read. He only goes for half a day, (even though they offered all day K this year) which works out best for Jack and mom. He is a very big tease just like his dad and grandpa Wilkey, it must be genetic or something. Jack has a very kind heart and is always helping mom and dad around the house. He is our little gentleman who is very observant of letting girls go first and holding doors for them. He gets up every morning and makes his bed and says his prayers before he comes up stairs without being asked. Jack loves to play in the snow, go sledding, go miniature golfing, bowling, going on dates with mom or dad, riding his scooter (which he fell on this year and had to get 9 stitches in his chin), and playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii.
Lauren (2) keeps us busy, laughing, cleaning, and impressed. She potty trained this year in 12 days, completely, including through the night. She even gets up in the night to use the bathroom on her own and goes back to bed on her own. She has learned all her letters (upper case and lower case), their sounds too, so now she is learning Spanish. She loves to keep up with her older brothers and sister so that’s probably her source of motivation. During family scriptures she insists on “reading” from her own “scriptures”, which is usually a lot more entertaining than what we’re reading. For family prayers we each say something we are thankful for and she always comes up with something that makes it hard for us to be reverent during the prayer. For instance she said she was thankful for Darth Vader and so we said good, now what’s something serious that you’re thankful for and she said “umm…. Transformer".Lauren
Until next year!
